Hi Stephen, you raise two different issues.

If the tattoo artist you choose mentions that he uses drugs, this can of course be disturbing for you. Many artists use and have used substances to expand their consciousness and enhance their creativity. This is up to each person and a very personal thing. However, it should not affect the professional practice of his craft. For this reason, it is advisable to choose your tattoo artist carefully and also to make sure that you share fundamentally the same values. Hygienic work should always be guaranteed and if you have the impression that your tattoo artist is not able to work professionally you should not get a tattoo.

The other aspect you mention is the messed up tattoo. If you have the impression that your tattoo does not meet the expectations, you should talk to your tattoo artist about it and find a solution. If this is not possible, the tattoo studio where he works can certainly mediate. There is no way to enforce such a thing, because tattoos are craft and above all art, and this is always individual. The fact that you have chosen this tattoo artist means that you yourself are responsible for the decision and the consequences, and you should take care in future to choose your tattoo artist better and to get to know him before you put yourself under his needle too lightly.
